Wild Card to Podium
Nick has been part of the Ohio Dreams family since the first summer camp in 2007, after attending camp for 3 years he was brought back as a guest instructor in 2010. Summers at Ohio Dreams and winters at the Windells academy have turned Nick from a funny little tall tee wearing grom to a world class free skier capable of showing up and winning almost any competition out there, as was the case with his first Dew Tour experience.
Coming off his podium appearance at the North Star competition a few weeks ago, Nick earned a wild card slot to compete at the Killington stop of the Dew Tour. Two weeks ago, Nick and his coach Kerry Miller flew into Columbus where Chris (Ohio Dreams CEO and Head Ski Instructor) picked them up and took them to the Ohio Dreams headquarters so they could take the OD Race car to Killington a week early for Nick to get some practice in. Last Wedneday Nicks father met up with Chris and they car pooled to Killington to support Nick.
Kerry ended up having to work the event and Chris stepped in as Nick's coach on the hill, together they talked about Nicks runs and kept the attitude light and the pressure off. Nick put out some solid runs and when the snow cleared the Wild Card Kid had made the podium against the best skiers in the world!
On behalf of the entire team at Ohio Dreams... Congratulations Nick! We will be following you closely through your upcoming events (fingers crossed) as well as the Toyota Championship in Utah, Feb 10 - 13
